AMMF – THE CHOLANGIOCARCINOMA CHARITY – RE-THINK LIVER CAMPAIGN 2026

The House of Commons, Churchill Room on Wednesday 25 February 2026, 14:00-16:30
On a bright and sunny day last month, on 25th February 2026 to be exact, I found myself in the Churchill Room at the House of Commons. I was invited to attend an event organised by AMMF, the Cholangiocarcinoma Charity. The theme of the event was “Shaping the future: from early detection to improved survival.”
With the UK Government having just announced a new National Cancer Plan for England, the charity reflected on recent advances, raised the awareness of the growing problem of cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer), and highlighted the priorities for improving outcomes for people diagnosed with this primary liver cancer.
As for me, I was invited as one of the charity’s “Faces of Cholangiocarcinoma” and featured in a video shown at the event, highlighting how this devastating cancer affects not only patients, but the families who love them. Being able to share Jonathan’s story in that setting felt both emotional and deeply meaningful. I had the privilege of meeting Helen Morement, Founder and CEO of AMMF, whose dedication to raising awareness and driving change is truly inspiring. I also met Mary Glindon MP, who hosted the event and continues to support greater recognition of this rare cancer.
Most moving of all was speaking with those currently living with cholangiocarcinoma and hearing about their journeys, their strength, honesty and courage. It was both emotional and uplifting to stand alongside patients, families and fellow survivors, united in their fight against cancer.
As I left the historic building in Westminster later that afternoon, I reflected on what I had learnt and felt more determined than ever to keep raising awareness about this type of cancer so that more people will have that knowledge and be better equipped to fight it. And of course, to keep telling the story of my fight and Jonathan’s fight – not just for me and my two boys – but for all those affected by cancer, wherever they are on their cancer journey.
